Tilting Weirs
The Tilting Weir allows you to accurately control the upstream water levels by means of a weir plate fixed to two side cheeks that rotate through a 90° axis located into the base frame of the weir. The two side cheeks are driven by two gearboxes mounted into the top crossbeam. The weir can be manually operated using a ‘T’ key or via an electric actuator.
The Tilting Weirs are manufactured from Stainless Steel 316L with HDPE guides and incorporate EPDM rubber seals in the guides that seal against the side cheeks. A more cost effective Tilting Weir incorporates the same design as above, but with HDPE side cheeks and are proven to be highly successful in the raised water level and wetland projects.
One of the latest innovations is our Beamless Tilting Weir. This is used where the watercourse could be subjected to a high volume of debris. Small boats and canoes are able to cross a beamless weir.
The Tilting Weir is a unique structure which is normally in the fully open position. This allows navigation up and down stream, but if there was a breach of the water course, the weir could be raised to isolate the breach in the bank, thus avoiding a potential flood.
Designs can be tailor made to suit the customer’s requirements.
